Settings changing app

Quick Profiles: With this app you can create few different profiles for different situations (ex.: home, work, theater, etc) and switch easily between them. This way you can setup the "home" profile with a higher volume for the ringer and one for "work" with a lower or silent ringer. You can also set up different ringtones, brigthness, timeout, airplane mode, wifi or bluetooth for different profiles. All you have to do is choose which profile you want and all your settings change with no effort. Here's the link. From the phone search for "quick profiles" and install.

Picture editing app

Skitch: This is a fun app that allows you to write something or draw something on a picture. You can add arrows, shapes or text to your pictures. Have a picture with you in the rain? Now you can add the sun to it. There are tons of uses for this app. After you make changes to your pictures you can save them, email them to your friends or post them to Facebook or Twitter. Very easy. Here's the link. From the phone search for "skitch" and install.

Learn how to draw app

How to draw: This is a nice app to help you learn how to draw. Good app to keep your kid occupied for a while or even for you to learn how to draw (especially if, like me, you have no artistic talent). It's not going to make you a Michelangelo, but it will help you draw something decent ( my dogs look like cars-I really need this). It has 70 different objects from different categories: animals, fairy tale characters, cars, cartoon characters etc. Here's the link. From the phone, search for: "how to draw" and install.

Game

Angry Birds Space: This is a new version of the best Android game, Angry Birds. This time, those angry birds make their way into space and take on the space pigs. Even if this is new territory for them, the birds are still kicking butt because of their new super powers. With 60 interstellar levels on planets and zero gravity, this game promises to deliver the same high level of entertainment as the original one. Here's the link. From the phone search for "angry birds space" and install. Get angry, bird style!

Game

Move the Box: Another cool and easy to figure out game. If you like logic puzzles you'll love this game. Like the title suggests you have to move the boxes around and clear the dock. You can move, swap or drop the boxes until you have 3 or more of the same kind in a row and they'll disappear. With 120 levels it will take you a while to finish it. Here's the link. From the phone search for "move the box" and install. Happy moving!

Children books app

iStorybooks: If you have little kids (2-8 years old) give this app a try. It provides you with free access to story books with pictures, audio and text for the kids to enjoy. You can read to them, or they can read them themselves. Or they can listen to the books "read themselves" through the audio feature. They add new books every 2 weeks. Pretty cool. Here's the link. From the phone search for "istorybooks" and install. Happy reading! Or listening!
*** This is the 100th app I list in my blog. Here's looking to the next 100.

Voice-video calling app

Skype: Probably not a secret for most of us, Skype is being used by millions of people every day. I personally use it a lot to call my folks in Europe. I didn't put it on the blog so far because, for a long time Skype didn't support video calling using the front facing camera. Now you can use it for video calling and it works pretty well. Plus, when you call somebody else on Skype is free. Here's the link. From the phone simply search for "skype" and install.

Weather app

1Weather: If you want to try a different weather app, give this one a try. It's very nice looking, simple to navigate and fun to use. It provides real-time global forecasts (for almost any location in the world) and very accurate local weather. It has animated maps and radar, daily weather alarms and severe conditions alerts. It also has real time tweets about weather. Very nice. Here's the link. From the phone search for "1weather" and install.

Social game

Draw Something Free: This is a game suggested to me by my daughter, Andreea. It's very simple and easy to learn. It's similar to Pictionary and you can play it online with your friends. You draw something on the screen and then send it to your friends, who will need to guess what you drew. You can also play it online competitively against anybody (not just your friends). The best part is that the worst you draw the more chances you have to win. Here's the link. From the phone search for "draw something free" and install.

Game

Ninja Chicken: Another very funny and easy to play game. I love this one. I think is hilarious. It's about a chicken who thinks he's a ninja and he's trying to prove it to the other chickens. The game has 30 levels and many missions that will keep you interested for a long time. The graphics are also pretty cool. Here's the link. From the phone search for "ninja chicken" and install. Happy fighting!

Soccer app

UEFA Champions League edition: Since I'm a big soccer fan, I thought I'd put here something related to it. This is an app that keeps you updated with the biggest (in my opinion) soccer competition there is. It provides live scores, customized alerts, news, photos, standings and more. If you like soccer (or football like is called in Europe) you need this app. Here's the link. From the phone search for "uefa champions league" and install.

Family Tracker app

Family GPS Tracker: This is a nice and useful app especially if you have teenage kids with cellphones and would like to know where they are. The app uses the built in GPS to give you the exact location of your family members and alerts you when they're in trouble, using the check-in feature. Another feature allows you to see sex offenders in your area. A must have for parents who want to know their kids are safe. Here's the link. From your phone search for "family gps tracker" and install.

Game

HeavenHell: Another fun game to play when you're bored with everything else. This time you get to fight evil. The goal of the game is to throw every devil out of the screen. By tapping the angels and devils you change them into squares and circles. With 4 different worlds and 80 levels you will play this game for a long time. So, don't wait any longer. Beat that devil's butt. Here's the link. From the phone search for :heavenhell" and install.

Mobile security app

avast! Mobile Security: These days phones are more exposed than ever to viruses and malware. This app will help you protect your device against these threats. It provides a lot of features to protect a phone: antivirus, privacy report, task manager, web shield, even a battery save option. As always the best way to protect yourself from bad apps is to always install apps from the Market and always read the reviews and find out what other people have to say about it ( and click on the review tab, not just read the 2-3 ones they show on the main page). Here's the link. From the phone search for "avast!" and install.

March Madness app

NCAA March Madness Live: With March Madness approaching this is the app to have if you're into college basketball. The app allows you to check scores, fill out and follow your bracket, get game alerts and listen to live game radio. The app also has a paid feature that allows you to watch all 67 games live on your phone. The price for that is $3.99 for all 67 games. The developers of this app tested it on some of the newer devices (the live video part), but it might work on older ones (if you have a 3G phone you might want to try it over Wi-Fi). Just read the reviews if you want to know for sure if it works on your phone. My guess is that 4G phones are fine. Again, the rest of the app should work on all phones, is just the live video that might lag on older phones. Here's the link. From the phone search for "NCAA March Madness" and install.

Speed trap app

Trapster: This is an app that alerts you as you approach speed traps, red lights/speed cameras, accidents and other road hazards. This app has over 15 million users worldwide. The app only alerts you of traps on your path of traffic, which eliminates unnecessary alerts. The alerts are updated by the users so you always have the latest data. You can add data too. It's easy. Back when I lived in Romania we used to flash our lights at each other. I guess times changed, right? Here's the link. From the phone search for "trapster" and install. Happy motoring!

Game

Tetris: This is a game that doesn't need a lot of introduction. It's one of the classics and we all enjoyed playing it when we were kids. Very simple, but pretty addictive, it will keep you playing for a long time, trying to beat your record. Here's the link. From the phone search for "tetris" and install.

Location sharing app

Glympse: This app allows you to stay in touch with your friends and share your location with them. It helps a lot when you're out in town and you want to get together with your friends on a short notice. All you have to do is send a Glympse to anyone via email, SMS, Facebook, or Twitter. Your location is only shared for the duration you specify and then stops. No sign-up needed. So let your friends you'll be at "Senor Frogs" for the next half an hour and then let them know when you get to the mall so they can join you. Very simple. Here's the link. From the phone search for "glympse" and install.

Alarm clock app

Talking Alarm Clock: This is not just any alarm clock. This is a talking alarm clock. You can set your personalized message and the phone will use it to wake you up. Pretty cool. To snooze the alarm you simply shake the phone. It supports: Italian, English, Spanish, French and German. If the "Talking Alarm Clock" doesn't work, try to do this in your phone: Go to "Setting"-> "Voice input and output"-> "Text to speech setting"->"Install voice data". Here's the link. From the phone search for " talking alarm clock" and install.
